Ruaha National Park is celebrated as "the country of the valiant Chief Kwawa people" who resisted German attacks in the late 19th century. The park is defined by its vast river system including the Great Ruaha, Mzombe, Mdonya, Mwagusi, and Jongomero Rivers which sustain diverse ecosystems. Home to elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, lions, hippos, and over 570 bird species, Ruaha offers both wildlife encounters and cultural heritage.
ITINERARY
Day 1 – Iringa → Ruaha National Park
After breakfast in Iringa, drive 2–3 hours to Ruaha National Park. Upon arrival, check in at your accommodation and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, embark on your first game drive across Ruaha's diverse landscapes. Spot elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, hippos, and occasional lions, guided by an experienced safari guide. Dinner and overnight at TANAPA Ruaha Bandas.

Day 2 – Sunrise Game Drive → Return to Iringa
Begin the day with a sunrise game drive, enjoying breakfast in the bush. Wildlife viewing will focus along the Great Ruaha River, Mwagusi Sand River, and Mdonya River. Expect encounters with elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and abundant birdlife. After lunch at camp, drive back to Iringa Town in the late afternoon, where your safari concludes.
